BIST welcomes people living with the effects of brain injury, and their caregivers, of all abilities to our community. Our services are geared towards people living with mild to moderate brain injury. Our office is wheelchair accessible, including touchless wave sensor buttons for our front door. All programs and events occurring outside of our office take place at wheelchair accessible venues.

Session #2: How to Advocate and Access Treatment Options

Finding the right care to treat your persistent concussion symptoms can be daunting. In this talk, Rachel Greenwood will discuss techniques and strategies to help you find the best treatment options available.
Session #3: How Gentle Exercise Can Help with Persistent Concussion Symptoms – Including Dizzyness and Vertigo

Speaker: Sonia Vovan, Physiotherapist and Vestibular Therapist, Sonia Vovan Physiotherapy
Exercise can help with persistent concussion symptoms, but determining the right amount of activity and not over-doing it can be difficult. In this talk, Sonia Vovan will discuss how to find the right amount of acvitity to help with your symptoms, including dizziness and vertigo.

Part One: Concussion Navigator Tool – Evan Foster
The Concussion Navigator Tool was developpped to help individuals 18 years of age or older find a clinic in Toronto that provides specialized concussion care. It is meant to be used by individuals with concussion, their caregivers, and health practitioners. In this interactive session, one of the creators of the navigator, Evan Foster, will discuss how to use the tool and participants will give their feedback on its use.
Part Two: Pacing and Fatigue Management – Ayushi Dhingra
Fatigue is a common, and delibating, symptom when dealing with persistent concussion symptoms. Learn how techniques such as pacing can help manage your fatigue and energy levels while dealing with concussion.
Participants only need to register once to attend each session.
