ABOUT OUR SPEAKERS:

Dr. Hiten Lad

Dr. Lad is a registered Clinical Psychologist with specialization in the practice of Clinical Neuropsychology for adults and seniors. He is listed with the Canadian Register of Health Service Providers in Psychology and is the Practice Director and Owner at Lad & Associates.

Lad & Associates is a boutique mental healthcare practice in West Toronto offering clinical neuropsychological and psychological services, including neuropsychological assessments, psychological assessments, psychovocational assessments, and psychoeducational evaluations for individuals in motor vehicle accidents, work-related injuries, medical-legal proceedings, academic challenges, chronic pain difficulties, and career changes. Treatment services include, individual psychological treatment, cognitive rehabilitation, behavioural therapy, as well as grief and loss counselling for a wide variety of conditions including acquired/traumatic brain injury, stroke, dementia, seizures, depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress and adjustment disorders.

Dr. Lad previously held positions as a Clinical Neuropsychologist with the Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) Program at Hamilton Health Sciences and as an Assistant Professor in the Faculty of Psychiatry and Behavioural Neurosciences at McMaster University. He is also involved in research and has co-authored journal articles as well as a book chapter related to acquired brain injury. Dr. Lad also held a position as a clinical coordinator and training supervisor for the Canadian Psychology Association Accredited Neuropsychology Internship program at Hamilton Health Sciences. Furthermore, he worked as the clinical supervisor for rehabilitation therapists at the Acquired Brain Injury Community Services program at Hamilton Health Sciences. Prior to working with Hamilton Health Sciences, Dr. Lad worked in a multidisciplinary team at Toronto Western Hospital providing cognitive behavioural rehabilitation services for the treatment of chronic pain patients.

 

Dr. Milan Unarket 

Dr. Unarket  is duly qualified specialist in physical medicine and rehabilitation and licensed to practice medicine by the College of Physicians and Surgeons in Ontario. He has a fellowship from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. He is a consultant physiatrist at Toronto Rehabilitation Institute, a specialist in neurological rehabilitation, musculoskeletal rehabilitation and electromyography. His clinical work involves the assessment and treatment of patients with various neurological and musculoskeletal injuries from the initial inpatient rehabilitation stay. He has an academic appointment at the University of Toronto as a lecturer and routinely teach medical students and residents. He has successfully obtained certification and proficiency in electromyography from the Canadian Congress of Neurological Sciences. He has completed a certification course in rating catastrophic impairment based on the 4th Edition AMA Guides on Permanent Impairment. He has also completed his certification in non-economic loss impairment assessments through the WSIB and routinely do assessments at the Toronto East General Hospital WSIB Regional Evaluation Centre. He has been accepted as an expert witness as a Physiatrist in both Civil and Criminal Court.
