Speaker Biographies:
Simone Friedman, Speech and Language Pathologist
Owner, Clinical Director, Therapy Spot
Simone Friedman is a Speech-Language Pathologist who has been working in the area of Traumatic Brain Injury for over 20 years. She owns and operates a private clinic in Toronto called Therapy Spot. She has given multiple workshops in the area of cognitive communication, mental health and Traumatic Brain Injury, and is an adjunct professor at Mcmaster University. Simone’s additional focused training is in the area of mental health, and how emotions affect communication and successful social relationships.
Natalie Kalymon (Zaraska), Occupational Therapist
Occupational Therapist and Founder of 365 Rehab
Natalie completed her undergraduate degree in Occupational Therapy at the University of Toronto in 1991 and a Master of Science degree in Rehabilitation Science at Queen’s University, Kingston, Ontario in 1997. Natalie owns and runs a private practice in Toronto, 365 Rehab, providing assessment and treatment to individuals who have sustained a brain injury. Natalie is adept at problem solving with her clients in ‘real-life’ situations, using creative strategies and tools to assist in achieving goals. Natalie has continued to develop her skills in the areas of trauma, mindfulness and CBT. Currently, Natalie holds a volunteer position as an International Educational Coordinator for the School of Rehabilitation Medicine at the Ukrainian Catholic University (UCU) and is involved in mentoring OT students. She has travelled to Ukraine extensively to promote the development of Occupational Therapy, assist in the creation of OT programs and is a representative to the World Federation of OT for the country of Ukraine. She is passionate about assisting individuals overcome trauma.
