Pork wrap siomai is a traditional Chinese dumpling that is steamed and enjoyed in dim sum restaurants. Follow Josie’s recipe to make your own appetizing pork wrap Siomai!
Soya Sauce: Choose light or dark soya sauce according to your taste
Ingredients:
1 pound of lean ground pork
1 pack frozen cooked shrimp
1 large egg
½ teaspoon salt
6 cloves minced garlic
1 bundle green onions (5-6)
2 medium carrots
1 medium onion
4 tablespoons soy sauce
1 teaspoon of salt and pepper each
1 pack Wonton wrapper medium size (defrosted at room temperature)
Instructions:
- In a large bowl empty pack of ground pork.
- Finely chop the defrosted shrimp pack and add to the bowl.
- Finely chop the onion, garlic, carrots, and add to the bowl.
- Lightly beat the egg and add to the bowl.
- Measure each seasoning, add to the bowl and mix well.
How to fill the wrap:
- Hold a wrapper in a one hand and add a teaspoon of the meat mixture in the center of the wrapper.
- Gently lift the edges of the wrapper around the meat and gently press to hold in place.
- Repeat these steps for the remainder of the mixture.
- Prepare the steamer by adding a water to the pot and bring to a boil.
- Lightly grease the steam tray. Place each piece onto the steam tray leaving some space in between each piece to prevent them from sticking together.
- Steam for at least 20 minutes and then check to see that meat is fully cooked (it will be very light in color).
