Pork wrap siomai is a traditional Chinese dumpling that is steamed and enjoyed in dim sum restaurants. Follow Josie’s recipe to make your own appetizing pork wrap Siomai!

Soya Sauce: Choose light or dark soya sauce according to your taste

Ingredients:

1 pound of lean ground pork

1 pack frozen cooked shrimp

1 large egg

½ teaspoon salt

6 cloves minced garlic

1 bundle green onions (5-6)

2 medium carrots

1 medium onion

4 tablespoons soy sauce

1 teaspoon of salt and pepper each

1 pack Wonton wrapper medium size (defrosted at room temperature)

Instructions:

  1. In a large bowl empty pack of ground pork.
  2. Finely chop the defrosted shrimp pack and add to the bowl.
  3. Finely chop the onion, garlic, carrots, and add to the bowl.
  4. Lightly beat the egg and add to the bowl.
  5. Measure each seasoning, add to the bowl and mix well.

How to fill the wrap:

  1. Hold a wrapper in a one hand and add a teaspoon of the meat mixture in the center of the wrapper.
  2. Gently lift the edges of the wrapper around the meat and gently press to hold in place.
  3. Repeat these steps for the remainder of the mixture.
  4. Prepare the steamer by adding a water to the pot and bring to a boil.
  5. Lightly grease the steam tray. Place each piece onto the steam tray leaving some space in between each piece to prevent them from sticking together.
  6. Steam for at least 20 minutes and then check to see that meat is fully cooked (it will be very light in color).
