SPEAKER: Hoong Phang; Managing Director, Propel Physiotherapy

Hoong Phang believes that every person is capable of improving their current physical situation. He is passionate about developing unique strategies through critical analysis and assessment to help his clients achieve their personal goals. This client-centered approach helps to guide his physiotherapy practice. He is consistently fine-tuning his clients’ sessions and discovering new ways to access their goals despite physical or mental barriers.

His experience in varsity sports, and working as a research assistant alongside physiotherapists at McMaster University gave him a close look at the role rehabilitation experts play in improving the lives of people with injuries and disabilities. Those experiences shaped his perspective on the importance of health-related quality of life. It also helped him to choose his career path.

 

 

INTRODUCTION BY: Chris Lazaris; Associate, Thomson Rogers

Chris Lazaris received his Juris Doctor from the University of Western Ontario in 2018. Before law school, he received a Bachelor of Arts from McGill University in 2014 with a double major in history and political science. While studying, Chris worked as a caseworker at Western’s Community Legal Services clinic, where he represented plaintiffs in Small Claims Court and at the Landlord and Tenant Board. He was also heavily involved in student journalism with a focus on interviewing university professors about emergent foreign policy issues.

Chris was called to the Ontario Bar in 2019. He is a passionate, strategic, and empathetic litigator who has exclusively practiced personal injury law since his call to the bar. His practice includes motor vehicle cases, slip and falls, long-term disability denials, and accident benefits disputes. Chris takes an organized and aggressive approach to ensure the absolute best results for clients, and regularly appears before the Superior Court of Justice and License Appeal Tribunal.

Before joining Thomson Rogers, Chris mainly worked at personal injury law firms where he honed his skills as a litigator. He articled at a firm specializing in litigation as well as real estate and corporate transactions. While in law school, he summered at a national corporate law firm.

In private, Chris enjoys exercising, reading about history and philosophy, and spending time with his family and pet dog.
