Finding and Advocating for the Support You Need

Navigating the resources needed to help people THRIVE after brain injury can feel like being stuck in a never-ending maze of red tape.

This FREE three-hour workshop will offer keynote presentations from a provincial advocate specialist and legal expert with experience in brain injury.

Two smaller 45-minute group sessions will be offered following the keynotes, one designed specifically for survivors’ advocacy needs and questions, the other for family/friends, and ABI professionals.

PRESENTERS:

Katie Muirhead

Katie Muirhead is an Advocacy Specialist with the Ontario Brain Injury Association (OBIA). She works with those affected by an ABI assisting with access to support services, medical, legal, and funding resources. She brings her experience as a behavioural rehabilitation and instructor therapist to her work and strives to raise awareness about ABI through education and outreach presentations.

Dianne Wintermute

Dianne Wintermute has been a lawyer for 30 years. She has spent almost all that time working with persons with disabilities and ABI who have low or no income.  She has appeared at every level of court and a variety of tribunals, is an active community volunteer and advocate who is very proud and passionate about all aspects of her work.
